Transportation Program

The West Michigan Veterans Coalition provides reliable transportation for those who need a ride to a medical appointment, grocery store, work or employment services, and social activities.

Transportation support is available to veterans, service members, spouses, dependent children, and their caregivers living in Kent County and southeastern Ottawa County.

The Power of Partnership

How WMVC Connected a Veteran to His Reunion

The West Michigan Veterans Coalition (WMVC) was contacted by a social worker from the Home for Veterans regarding a resident of theirs requesting transportation to his class reunion. The resident did not normally go outside of the home but this time the veteran wanted to go.

With the need of an accessible van that can accommodate a motorized wheelchair and an additional staff person to accompany the veteran, the WMVC contacted their partner, Feonix Mobility Rising. Feonix Mobility Rising is a national organization that focuses on finding solutions to transportation issues. Through the partnership, the WMVC was able to provide the necessary transportation for the veteran to attend his class reunion.
